VDC AUGSBURG 2025
VISUAL DISCOVERY CONFERENCE
The Visual Discovery Conference is a week-long international design conference that brings together students and faculty from design and applied-science programs across the United States, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy. Under the conference theme, “A Net of Works,” interdisciplinary teams collaborated to explore local culture, exchange ideas, and develop visual communication projects. Working in an international team, my group explored Augsburg, Germany, creating an interactive map that introduced audiences to the city’s history, cultural hubs, and significant locations. We developed a visual system that encouraged users to interact with the map while drawing connections between Augsburg’s past and present. The project challenged me to combine research, information design, and interactive storytelling while working across different cultural and design perspectives.I was also honored to win the Ohio University student competition during the conference for an information graphic exploring narcolepsy. I was the first non-photography student from Ohio University to receive the award, making the recognition especially meaningful.

OUMS
TREASURER
Ohio University Multimedia Society gave me the opportunity to explore some of the country’s leading creative studios and media companies while developing my skills as a designer and leader. As Treasurer and a member of the Executive Board, I helped plan and coordinate professional trips for a group of approximately 15 Ohio University students, managing logistics while working collaboratively with the executive team. Through multiple trips to New York City, Chicago, and Columbus, I participated in studio visits, design conversations, and alumni networking opportunities with professionals across the creative and media industries. Visits and conversations included Base Design, Warner Bros. Discovery, Known Media Agency, Firebelly Design, Landor, and Pentagram. Beyond building my professional network, these experiences gave me firsthand insight into how creative teams approach branding, strategy, visual communication, and storytelling in professional environments. Connecting with designers, creatives, and Ohio University alumni helped broaden my perspective on the industry and gave me a clearer understanding of the opportunities and career paths available after graduation.

SCRIPPS SEMESTER IN DC
FELLOW
Scripps Semester in D.C. is an immersive professional development program through Ohio University. As part of my cohort, I had the opportunity to learn directly from alumni working across a variety of industries and gain insight into careers centered around communication and media. Throughout the program, I participated in professional visits to Capitol Hill, the White House, Amazon Headquarters, the National Press Club, connecting with industry professionals and learning how communication strategies are applied in real-world settings. I also collaborated with a team to develop a strategic social media campaign for the program. We researched the existing social presence, developed recommendations, and presented our strategy before moving into content development and implementation. After classes concluded, I continued the D.C. experience by completing two part-time internships with EMILY’s List and Wildside Media while finishing coursework and participating in additional networking and professional development opportunities. Balancing internships, schoolwork, and networking strengthened my ability to manage multiple priorities while gaining hands-on experience in both digital design and multimedia production. Overall, the program expanded my professional network, strengthened my confidence in communication and collaboration, and gave me a clearer understanding of how visual communication and strategic thinking come together in professional environments.
